9 Down, 6 to Go!

The run is going well, selling well, and getting better. It's fun to develop and play with the characters and get to know the cast better (though it has it's disadvantages too - it's not always easy to love people). Our maids costumes are cute, but we're sick of changing in and out of them! Little lacy caps have been added to the look.
I have had no time to do anything crafty, except make thank you cards for the directors and do some art journaling. My painted marionette is progressing however! She'll be quite a gaudy little miss when she's done.

I must be off. Sleep and school are demanding!

We are all about politically incorrect

- And I probably use the word too much.

But it's definitely true. A few examples, mostly historical because we're like that...


The Enlightenment period = the endarkenment.
And the 'Dark Ages' were actually pretty productive.


A piece of paper called the Constitution of the United States. I actually think it's a pretty good idea to follow it.


The 'Civil War.' Since when is North good and South bad? My favourite subject!


I think FDR was a not-so-nice president, and America was unneeded in World War II.


And lastly, my Easter is not about chocolate and a giant rabbit.

There is no Time!

Hello darlings!

The week has and is going by so quickly. Keeping up with school will be hard this week, amidst rehearsals and opening night.
I always think of the Andrews Sisters when we do the Boylan girls scene, even though they were a couple decades later.
No photos yet! I need to get on that at tonight's run. How are all of you? I have little to write as nothing is happening for me except Annie and school...all of which takes a lot of time!

Today I had a costume fitting again for the Boylan sister dress, and it is so pretty and swishy and pink! The designer said,"Isn't it fun to think that someone back in the 30's picked out this pattern and sewed it?" We have some cute little dance moves too, around the radio microphone. Tonight another rehearsal!

Work is done and life

The Madness Begins

Yesterday was the first rehearsal, and the night before that we sang through the entire ensemble song set. It's fun, and the directors are wonderful! This afternoon is another long practice. As Warbucks' servants in the mansion scenes, we are like mechanical dolls, impeccable and precise. And since there is no set in the rehearsal room, there is a great deal of dusting imaginary staircases!

a strangely shrunken version

This drawing is significantly larger and more detailed in reality, but what can you do?
It's another celebration of the amazing Rapidograph pens.
How have your weeks been? Things are nice here - fun, but not too busy - before the insanity that is Annie begins on Thursday night. We spent a lovely evening at another family's house for dinner. It's not yet too hot at twilight, so we sat outside under their tree with lights in it.

Macaron Weekend

Since Friday was Macaron Day in France, on Saturday I made white macarons with a filling of lemon curd with vanilla buttercream. The flecks on the shells are yellow colouring as I had no lemon zest. I have yet to really get the hang of anything other than chocolate or pink - plain almond isn't working for me.

Our wonderful friend is visiting from Washington and spent a week in Paris - so he brought us some macarons! They are from 'La Maison Du Chocolat,' and look (and taste) perfectly lovely.
